BiNet USA / Current work
BiNet USA History
The work has a past. Its people have names.
BiNet's history includes organizing, public writing, visibility campaigns, institutional engagement, and arguments about whose lives count. The record is wider than a single controversy.
Movement-building
The restored historical homepage includes Lani Ka'ahumanu's account connecting a 1987 call for a national bisexual network with organizing at the 1990 national conference. We preserve that account as an attributed source, not as newly written testimony.
Symbols, days, and the people behind them
Michael Page is credited with introducing the bisexual pride flag in 1998. Celebrate Bisexuality Day began in 1999 through Wendy Curry, Michael Page, and Gigi Raven Wilbur. Their association with BiNet belongs in the record alongside other organizers and creators.
Heritage is a responsibility to credit and preserve, not an automatic claim of exclusive intellectual-property rights.
Institutional engagement
The White House's 2012 profile documents Faith Cheltenham's BiNet advocacy and networking. That dated source helps explain why today's mission is policy and institutional change, not simply a directory of direct services.
The current chapter
Faith now leads this BiNet USA project within XXYYZZ Society LLC. The renewed public work brings Digital Right of Reply, archive preservation, community technology, and an explicit anti-extraction standard together.
A historical roster does not determine the current project's leadership. A present-day response does not overwrite a historical source.
